Emily Ratajkowski New Look of the Power Suit 2017
Fashion Week this season has been full of political messages, and some of the most finely tuned can not be seen on the runways, but on showgoers themselves. At last night’s fall Altuzarra show, the model and actress Emily Ratajkowski took his message from the front row on the road in the new look of the power suit.
And while Ratajkowski might not seem to be the kind of slipping into tailored separates, it embraced uniform force inducing Hillary Clinton and punctuated her look with the Planned Parenthood button, which reads, “Fashion is with Planned Parenthood.” The message was clear, but thick: the same suit is a symbol of female emancipation, sported by everyone from top models to the suffragettes, and the color, a dusty rose, is a highly visible emblem, and elegantly tailored to message girl-power Ratajkowski. (The color is also used by Planned Parenthood made famous by Senator Elizabeth Warren, who sported the shadow on her scarf at the opening of this year). The appearance buttoned-up was not only a triumph of socially conscious style, but also an interesting change of pace for an actress more accustomed to dazzling body.
